When a hose was not fitted and crimped properly, pressure during use caused it to fail and ultimately explode. The plaintiff suffered severe burns as a result, and the defense argued liability. Challenge
The plaintiff was using a hose that had not been properly fitted or clamped by the defense. The attachment piece was cut at a diagonal rather than straight across, therefore causing an improper fit.
Because the hose wasn’t secured, regular pressure that the product should have been able to handle instead caused catastrophic failure, leading to the plaintiff suffering severe burns.
The defense argued that their product did not cause the incident and the fire leading to the plaintiff’s injuries.
