A building maintenance man installed unsafe wheel stops in an improperly maintained parking lot. While walking into her apartment building, the plaintiff tripped and fell over the wheel stop resulting in a severe open wound to her right forearm.
Challenge
The apartment complex failed to maintain the parking lot walkway free from hazardous conditions in violation of the village code. Despite this negligence, the defense claimed that the lot was safely maintained and the plaintiff should have seen the wheel stop.

Approach
Ryan Ryan & Viglione tasked MediVisuals + High Impact with creating compelling legal exhibits to demonstrate their client's injuries and surgical procedures as a result of the trip and fall. The objectives were to:

Illustrate the initial injuries from the trip and fall, severe open wound to the right forearm.

Illustrate the forearm surgical procedures to repair the muscle, tendon, and nerve damage.

Illustrate the placement of a spinal cord stimulator, needed after the development of complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS).

Result
The visuals were instrumental in showing the plaintiff's nerve damage leading to the development of complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS). They also helped the jury understand how a permanent spinal cord stimulator worked to reduce the plaintiff's right arm pain. The jury returned a verdict of $18,068,285.
