Grant Riley: Lead poisoning cases are extremely difficult to prosecute because there is no readily identifiable injury that an attorney can show to a jury. X-rays, MRI’s and CT scans cannot and do not show the damage caused by childhood lead poisoning. As a result, we needed High Impact to demonstrate what lead does to the brain of a developing child on a cellular level. That requires top-notch graphics that will not only pass muster with the court and get past the endless objections of the defense counsel, but tell the story of what happened to our plaintiff’s child in a way that every juror can understand and carry into the jury room.

GR: My firm focuses on toxic torts and slum housing claims including lead poisoning, Legionnaires’ disease, carbon monoxide poisoning, fires, and other claims involving residential tenants. With the help of High Impact, we were able to convince counsel, the adjusters assigned to the case, and the parties chosen mediator that defendants’ initial settlement offer of $250,000 was grossly inadequate. The case ultimately settled for $6,000,000.
