​This heart surgery animation demonstrates an aortic valve replacement and aortic aneurysm repair. In this case, a cardiologist abandoned this procedure and left it in the hands of a physicians assistant. The patient would remain in a coma for six years.

The animation was used in trial by Ricardo Echeverria, Esq., to show the dangerous complexity involved in this surgery that literally required the patient's heart to be temporarily stopped. Showing this level of danger helped magnify the level of negligence involved in the decision to walk away before completing this heart surgery. The jury awarded Mr. Echeverria's client a $68M verdict.
